1. Characteristics of the MOOC
MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) for B2 level English is designed to help learners develop
upper-intermediate proficiency in the English language, typically according to the Common
European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
1.1 The goal of studying at the B2 level.
To achieve confident understanding and use of English in most situations — both in everyday
life and in professional or academic contexts.
1.2 Learning Objectives at B2 Level:
- To expand vocabulary, including set expressions and phrasal verbs.
- To improve comprehension of written and spoken language on complex topics.
- To learn to express opinions fluently and support arguments.
- To enhance writing accuracy and structure (essays, letters, reports).
- To strengthen advanced grammar knowledge.
1.3 Learning Outcomes: B2 Level
- By the end of the B2 English course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics.
- Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native
speakers possible.
- Produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects.
- Explain viewpoints on topical issues, giving the advantages and disadvantages of various
options.
- Use a wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures with good control and accuracy.
- Listen to and understand extended speech, lectures, and media with minimal effort.
2. Pre requisites: the ability to read, translating with and without a dictionary, making simple
phrases.
3. Post-requisites: The knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired during the B2 English MOOC
are essential for successfully progressing to the following courses:
- C1 Advanced English Courses – focused on academic or professional language use.
- Academic Writing and Presentation Skills – for university or research purposes.
- Business English – for working in international environments.
- Subject-Specific Courses in English – such as science, technology, economics, or social
studies, delivered in English.
- Professional Communication Courses – including email writing, negotiations, and public
speaking.
